How Labs cheat testers to inflate positive results

Labs Cheat Testers to Inflate Positive Results

THIS IS NOT A ALL THE TIME ISSUE BUT IT DOES HAPPEN

Some drug testing laboratories may report inflated preliminary positives by relying on screening results without properly following confirmation procedures, potentially leading to unfair outcomes for individuals being tested.

How Hair Drug Testing Is Supposed to Work

Major laboratories such as Quest Diagnostics state that hair drug testing follows a two-step verification process designed to prevent false positives.

Step 1 – Initial Screen (ELISA)
A portion of the hair sample is first screened using Enzyme‑Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). This is a routine screening method used to detect potential drug metabolites.

Step 2 – Confirmation Test
If the screening result exceeds the laboratory cutoff level (typically 1.0 pg for THC), a second portion of the sample should undergo confirmatory testing using highly specific analytical methods such as:

  • Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS)

  • Gas Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS/MS)

The confirmation stage generally uses a much lower cutoff (around 0.1 pg) and is intended to verify that the initial screen was accurate.

Where Problems Can Occur

Outside federally regulated programs such as those governed by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), strict nationwide standards are limited.

This lack of oversight can allow some laboratories to rely heavily on screening results alone, which can create the appearance of higher positive rates without proper confirmation.

Why Obtaining Your Test Report Matters

Individuals who receive unexpected positive results should request a full copy of their laboratory report.

A detailed report shows:

  • The screening result

  • Whether a confirmatory test was performed

  • The cutoff levels used

  • The analytical method applied

In many cases, reviewing the documentation can reveal whether the testing process was properly followed.

Real-World Examples

Below are several cases where individuals appear to have been affected by questionable testing practices involving screening results that should not have resulted in a confirmed positive.

initial screen cut off 1.0 pg  actual quantitative level  0.7 pg

initial screen cut off 1.0 pg  actual quantitative level  0.6 pg

QUANTITATIVE RESULT 0.5 pg   AGAIN UNDER 1.0pg threshold

from quest

AS PAPERWORK STATES " THIS TEST WAS PER FORMED ............................... WITH APPLICABLE  SCREENING AND CONFIRMATION CUT OFF LEVELS "    /     apparently not

0.6 is below 1.0 on  SCREEN  so no confirmation is needed   it not would be ran if under threshold

how do you presume the SCREEN is positive if it is  below threshold ?     you dont unless you skip it .

SO quest skips initial 1pg screen to test you at 0.1pg basically nothing and we have discovered psychmedics has their own cheating method ...

psychmedics using a ng/ 10mg scale to confuse , the 5pg/10mg is actually equal o 0.5 pg /mg which is HALF the normal threshold of 1pg/mg  .

Still not enough to keep hair razor from getting a negative result

UPDATE -  9-11-2018

ANOTHER ONE

UNDER INITIAL THRESHOLD  TESTER HAD TO COMPLAIN TO SEE ACTUAL RESULTS

UPDATE 10-10-2018

WILL BE POSTING NEW BLOG ON NEW TACTIC GOING ON AT PSYMEDICS

HEAR IS ANOTHER LAB CHEATING PEOPLE

these assclowns show no initial cutoff level (1.0 pg ) and a confirmation threshold  of 0.03 !!!  standard is 0.1 pg   WTF

Quest and psychmedics  are admitting hair razor is effecting their positive  result numbers  by their dishonest practices  .

Their are PLENTY of Hair Razor users who had same use and passed and they document it on our Hair Razor Reviews page
